Project description :
The phase 2 project for Capacity Development of Environmental Monitoring in Algeria aims at improving analytical accuracy, expanding targeted substances for analyzing and technical assistance to district research institute. The cooperation of recovering polluted environment will be considered.

Sustainable Management of Coastal Fisheries Resources
the Republic of Tunisia, Kerkenah, Mahares, Zarat, Ajim / Gulf of Gabes
Project description :
Project Purpose:
Models of coastal fisheries resource management for sustainable use of demersal resources are developed in the selected project sites, with participation of fishing communities.
Activities:
1. Promote the understanding and cooperation of local communities on seagrass bed conservation and rehabilitation.
2. Installation of artificial reefs for fisheries grounds protection with participation of fishers.
3. Carry out survey of socio-economical and biological impacts for artificial reefs.
4. Improve fry production (Sole) and releasing techniques (Sea bass and Sea bream).
5. Elaborate action plans with ownership of fishers' groups and governmental bodies to diversify income source of fishers (small scale clam culture and seafood processing).
6. Carry out technical exchanges seminar with neighboring countries (Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania and Italy) on coastal fisheries resource management.
